Check which number Venmo is texting
Venmo says it texts a code when a person signs up or changes a phone number. A sign-in from a new device may instead send a code to the number already on the account. Read the masked destination on your own Venmo screen. A newly purchased number cannot receive a code addressed to an old number. Venmo also says not to create another personal account merely because your number changed.
If you can still sign in on a trusted device, use Venmo’s account settings to update the number and verify the new one. If you cannot access the account, use its sign-in help and support route. Keep the existing email and account details available for their review; an SMS order does not prove that you own the account.

Separate US eligibility from an inventory listing
The US number guide lets you inspect current Venmo activation offers and indicative USD prices. The picker shows the actual pool, time window and final CNY charge. A Venmo row under another country describes SMS4U inventory only. It does not establish that Venmo allows registration in that country or accepts that particular number.
Payment account access may require identity, banking details and a contact method you can keep. Receiving one message cannot satisfy those separate requirements. If this is an account you will continue to use, consider how future sign-in and payment challenges will reach you after a short-lived order ends.
If no code arrives, identify the failed step
First check that Venmo actually offered and sent an SMS, then compare the complete destination with the active order and country code. Venmo’s help covers resend and verification problems. Repeated attempts across devices can leave multiple codes; use the one requested by the current screen. SMS4U can show a message that reaches its supplied number, but it cannot trigger a Venmo send or override a risk decision.
Treat an unexpected Venmo code as sensitive. Do not give it to a caller, chat contact or outside website. For a lost account, start with Venmo’s own recovery and support. The practical question is whether you can maintain control of the phone number for later access, not whether the first code appears.
