Separate personal accounts from work or school accounts
Microsoft says it is phasing out SMS for authentication and recovery on personal Microsoft accounts. The security page may no longer let you add a phone number, instead offering a recovery email, Microsoft Authenticator or a passkey. If your current screen does not offer to send an SMS, buying a number cannot add that option. Use the method the account actually presents, then review verification methods you can keep for the long term.
Work or school accounts can have methods set by an organization administrator. A past SMS prompt on your personal account says nothing about a tenant's policy. If a work screen asks you to approve an Authenticator notification, enter an app code or contact an administrator, an SMS4U order cannot complete that step. Follow the organization route rather than repeatedly ordering numbers.

When your current prompt really offers SMS
If the screen permits a new SMS-capable number or explicitly offers a code to it, check the country selector, calling code and full number before comparing Microsoft stock below. Microsoft says a code confirms newly added security information, but whether a new phone is available depends on the account's present options. After ordering, watch Active orders within the activation window. Confirm the live pool, duration and final CNY debit in the picker.
A text directed to a phone already bound to an account will not be rerouted to a different new order. A rejected number or disabled method points to account policy; a missing text after a send prompt calls for checking the entered number, order time and resend interval. SMS4U cannot receive verification calls, reset the account password or prove identity. Keep security codes private.
Keep an account recovery route that lasts
A Microsoft account may hold mail, cloud files and device access. Once a temporary activation ends, you cannot count on receiving future codes there. Keep verified recovery details current and use a durable method offered by Microsoft; for an organization account, follow the administrator's policy. A one-time text only helps with an SMS step that is actually available now.
