Coinbase treats SMS as one two-step method. If the registered number is gone, use the account recovery path rather than expecting a new number to receive old-number codes.

A sign-in challenge is not a phone change
Coinbase distinguishes between an account you can still sign in to, a lost registered number, and a new device with the same number. If the current challenge sends SMS to the number already on file, a newly ordered number cannot receive it. The official lost-number route begins on the Coinbase website and may require government ID or other identity information before you can replace a two-step method.
Read the challenge carefully: it may ask for SMS, a passkey, an authenticator code or a push approval. SMS4U can receive an SMS addressed to its order. It cannot create an authenticator code, approve a push request or complete an identity review. Start recovery only from Coinbase’s own site.

Inventory does not grant exchange eligibility
The US and UK number pages let you compare current Coinbase offers. The picker identifies the pool, indicative USD activation price, order window and final CNY debit. A country appearing in this inventory does not establish Coinbase’s account eligibility, identity requirements or acceptance of that number.
A short-lived number is a weak long-term security factor for a financial account. Coinbase documents passkeys and authenticator apps as alternatives where account settings allow them. If your account is locked, follow its recovery flow instead of attempting to work around old-account checks with a different number.
Diagnose a missing text in the right order
Coinbase’s troubleshooting page recommends waiting before requesting another SMS and checking other enrolled verification methods. Confirm that the screen selected text message, that its masked destination matches the active order, and that the order has time remaining. Then inspect the SMS4U inbox. An inventory row alone cannot tell you whether Coinbase sent a message or rejected a number.
If the screen is really asking for old-number access, account recovery, identity review or a withdrawal restriction, another SMS order will not finish that step. Preserve the exact error and time for Coinbase support. Never share a password, recovery code or one-time code with a third party.
