Identify the recipient of Amazon's current check
Amazon two-step verification adds a security code to the password at sign-in. Depending on the account's settings, that code may arrive by text or come from an authenticator app. The decisive question is who receives the code on the screen in front of you. If Amazon shows the final digits of a phone already registered to the account, a new SMS4U number cannot receive a message addressed to that older phone. If it asks for an authenticator code, an incoming text is not the same method. Look for a genuine add-new-number step before comparing offers.
Amazon retail accounts and services such as KDP can share credentials and two-step settings. KDP's official help describes text, voice call and authenticator routes; do not assume that a code from one workflow can be redirected through a different product listing. SMS4U receives incoming texts only. It cannot answer a verification call or establish account ownership.

Use the stock table only when text delivery to a new number is offered
When Amazon currently permits a new phone to be enrolled and lets you choose text delivery, match the country selector and calling code before comparing available Amazon stock below. Obtain the number, request the code for that specific action, and check the number, message and time window in Active orders. If a code does not arrive, Amazon suggests checking the registered number, an enrolled backup method or the resend option shown in its interface. When several codes arrive, follow the current screen's instructions for the most recent one. A formatting mistake, a lost bound phone and delayed delivery are different problems.
The table is a stock snapshot. It cannot guarantee that Amazon accepts a number. The picker shows current pool, duration and final CNY debit. The US and UK guides explain those calling codes, but the Amazon form decides which country fits the current account.
Preserve a durable recovery path for an account with orders or assets
Amazon's recovery guidance suggests trying an enrolled backup method or trusted device first, then using its official account recovery process if sign-in still fails. A short activation ends; it does not give lasting control of the phone. Later sign-ins, security changes or recovery may need the previously registered contact again. For a shopping or publishing account you intend to retain, use a number you control and configure an available authenticator or backup route.
