Shopee operates separate country marketplaces. Account menus, verification channels and support routes may vary. The Shopee Philippines help center says a user can add a mobile number in the app under Me, Settings and Account & Security, then enter a code sent by SMS. Its website account page also offers Add beside Phone Number and a Send Verification Code step. That help center says buyers need a verified mobile number to purchase. These menu paths are documented for the Philippines; use the instructions actually shown by your own marketplace rather than assuming they apply everywhere.

A shopping account may later need its linked number for sign-in, account changes or recovery, especially when it holds orders, returns or wallet information. A short SMS activation cannot promise access to a later code sent to the same number. For an account you plan to keep, choose a number you can continue to control and maintain a working email and any other security methods your marketplace offers.

Order only for an explicit SMS step

Check whether your present Shopee screen asks for a new phone number and actually offers SMS. Some marketplaces or actions may present another channel. Confirm the marketplace, calling code and full number format first. The Philippines marketplace guidance cannot simply be applied to another region such as the US. For a signed-out user who cannot receive the old number's OTP, its login page offers a password recovery route and a Mobile number changed request, followed by account checks. Availability and labels can differ by marketplace, so follow the help center for your country. An SMS receipt is not proof of ownership, and a code should never be shared with another person.
