Separate adding a new phone from a challenge to an old account

LinkedIn's Add phone number flow may first send a code to the account's primary email. It then lets you choose a country, enter a new mobile number and confirm it with an SMS code. SMS4U can only receive that final text addressed to the new number; it cannot receive the email step. A sign-in challenge after unusual activity may instead target the mobile already registered to the account. A fresh activation will not collect a message sent to that old phone. LinkedIn says VoIP numbers are not supported for its phone verification at sign-in. Stock in a number pool is therefore no guarantee that LinkedIn will accept the number type.

LinkedIn can also use a verified phone for password resets or, in limited cases, profile identity verification. Receiving one text is not a substitute for proving professional identity. Read the present task, existing account binding and alternative methods before deciding that an SMS purchase fits.

Reduce wasted attempts when a new phone is permitted

Choose the calling code in LinkedIn's current form and enter the local number or full international format exactly as requested; do not duplicate the prefix. Compare the available countries below, obtain a number in SMS4U, and only then request LinkedIn's text to that number. Check the received message and order timer in Active orders. If LinkedIn reports that the number type is unsupported, follow its rule and use a suitable number you control instead of repeatedly buying the same kind of number. SMS4U cannot answer a call if LinkedIn offers voice delivery.

Keep a professional account recoverable

LinkedIn offers text or an authenticator app for two-factor authentication, and a signed-in mobile device may display an approval prompt. Its help recommends the authenticator app as the preferred 2FA method. New-device sign-ins and password resets may need a usable security route later. A verified phone may become the password-reset contact; an expired activation cannot promise another code. For a network or recruiting account you intend to retain, maintain your own reachable phone and email and manage 2FA in LinkedIn's settings. If you have already lost the bound phone, use LinkedIn's current account-recovery path rather than expecting a new number to receive the old phone's texts.
