A standard MOVE account can use an international number
AirAsia's registration help says a standard account verifies email and phone; an unverified number may receive a one-time SMS code. It says an international number can be used and that this step uses SMS. This guidance concerns MOVE account registration, not every country, product or future booking flow.
If the screen is waiting for an email link, complete that step separately. SMS4U receives texts sent to the order number; it does not book flights, change an itinerary, deliver flight alerts or take support calls. Check the country code and the number you entered in AirAsia MOVE.

MOVEPay has a separate eligibility rule
AirAsia's MOVEPay FAQ separately requires a valid Malaysian mobile number and requests details such as name, date of birth, nationality and an identity document. Existing BigPay users may link their account instead. Permission to use an international number for a standard MOVE account does not mean any number can be used for MOVEPay. SMS reception does not verify identity or establish wallet eligibility.
If your goal is a wallet or payment product, check AirAsia's current residence, number and identity requirements first. A standard travel account, membership, MOVEPay and linked BigPay account are different flows. If the official screen rejects the number, keep the error and contact AirAsia support rather than treating a text order as a substitute.
Travel accounts need access beyond one text
AirAsia MOVE can retain itineraries, bookings and add-ons. Later changes, account alerts or booking updates may require access to the contact method again. You do not control a number after a short order ends, and it cannot receive future travel messages for you. Use contact details you can keep accessing for ongoing trips.
Offers, USD reference prices and order limits are shown for the selected app-country pair in the live picker; actual balance and debit remain CNY. Read the Malaysia and Kenya format guides, then check AirAsia MOVE's own current rules. Text reception does not replace airline booking or identity support.
